About Educon

Educon is an Approved Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA Register number 41) and listed on RoATP (Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers) as a Main Provider (search UKPRN 10065705).

We offer a comprehensive range of levy-compliant apprenticeship training. Our apprenticeship training programmes are designed to maximise the value employers get from their Levy allowance and give apprentices essential job-related skills and a rewarding apprenticeship journey.

Although we are based in East London and work mainly with employers and apprentices in the capital and the South East, we run programmes throughout the UK.

Whether you are a local SME or a large national organisation, Educon can help you plan, develop and deliver a quality apprenticeship programme.

Apprenticeship Training Provider

Apprenticeship Training Provider

As a Main Provider listed on RoATP, Educon can help you recover your levy contributions and offer a comprehensive range of levy-compliant apprenticeship training.

If you are an employer with a payroll of £3m or more you’ll be paying into the Apprenticeship Levy scheme. At 0.5% of your pay bill, your contribution to the levy is likely to be a significant sum of money.

We will work with you to develop a structured apprenticeship plan that can recover all of the funds you have paid in. We can also help you take advantage of co-funding, with the government meeting 90% of the cost of your training.

We will work with you to plan apprenticeships that deliver the additional levy-compliant skills needed for your staff to create added value for your business.

Every apprenticeship that we offer has a recovery value, ranging from £3000 – £27,000, depending on the apprenticeship standard or framework you opt for.

We will help you maximise the value you get from your levy contribution by calculating the most efficient way to recover it. We will work out how much you are paying in annually and then look up the values (and recommended durations) of the apprenticeships you want to use and calculate how much of your levy the programmes would recover.

Apprenticeship Training Agency

Apprenticeship Training Agency

As an approved Apprenticeship Training Agency (ATA), Educon can make it easier for you to take on an apprentice. We recruit and employ the apprentice on your behalf, taking on all of the HR and performance management responsibilities, so you gain the benefits of productive new members of your workforce without the additional administration.

The ATA model is ideal for delivering high quality apprenticeships to employers who, for various reasons, feel unable to employ an apprentice directly. So we, rather than you, recruit and employ the apprentices. We relieve you of the burden of HR, day-to-day administration and performance management. We work with you to understand your requirements, agree the apprentice’s role and select the most appropriate framework for the apprentice to follow.

We will

• shortlist and interview the best applicants for your job role
• help you access funding to cover or contribute to training costs (either Levy or co-funding)
• provide training ourselves or identity the best local training provision
• provide all HR services for the apprentice
• closely monitor the apprentice’s progress and deal with any performance management issues that may arise
• provide a single point of contact for all parties throughout the term of the apprenticeship

The Levy

Levy paying employers

The levy was introduced on 6 April 2017 and will be charged at a rate of 0.5% of an employers’ pay bill, paid through PAYE on a monthly basis.

Each employer will have a levy allowance of £15,000, this is not a cash payment. It works in a similar way to the personal tax allowance and cannot be used to purchase apprenticeship training.

Employers in England who pay the levy will be able to get out more than they pay in, through a 10% top-up to their online accounts.

An employer’s pay bill is made up of the total amount of the employees’ earnings that are subject to Class 1 National Insurance contributions, such as:

• wages
• bonuses
• commissions
• pension contributions

Non-levy paying employers

Employers with a pay bill of less than £3 million a year will not need to pay the levy. At least 90% of non-levy paying employers’ apprenticeship training and assessment costs in England will be paid for by the government. The government will ask these employers to make a 10% contribution to the cost, paid directly to the provider, and the government covers the rest. This cost will be spread over the lifetime of the apprenticeship.

The government is offering additional support to organisations with fewer than 50 employees* by paying 100% of training and assessment costs for their apprentices aged 16-18 and for those aged 19-24 formerly in care or with a local authority education, health and care plan.

The government will also pay employers, regardless of size, £1,000 for each 16-18 year old apprentice they employ.

Become an apprentice

An apprenticeship is a job with training. Being an apprentice means that you have a job that includes gaining recognised qualifications and essential skills whilst you are working and earning a wage.

With an apprenticeship, you get paid in a real job and gain real work experience, real qualifications and a real future.

You will gain career-specific skills and experience whilst studying towards a career-related qualification.

And you will earn a real wage (with holiday pay!) while you learn, without the burden of student debt.
